About Me

Welcome to The Billiards Professor!

I’m Michael, your guide to mastering the art of billiards. With a passion for the game and years of experience under my belt, I’m here to help you elevate your skills and enjoy the game to its fullest.

“The world does not pay for what a person knows, but it pays for what a person does with what he knows.”

My Journey and Teaching Philosophy

I’ve been playing billiards for as long as I can remember, and it’s more than just a hobby—it’s a way of life. As a semi-pro player with a 630ish Fargo rating, I’ve competed in numerous tournaments and have a deep understanding of the strategies and techniques that make a great player.

Before fully dedicating myself to billiards, I served in the Navy, where my passion for the game had to take a backseat—after all, a pool table doesn’t work well on a ship! However, my time in the Navy taught me discipline and focus, which I now apply to my approach to the game.

I believe that billiards is a game of both skill and strategy. My approach to teaching focuses on building a strong foundation in the fundamentals while also honing the mental aspects of the game. Whether you’re a beginner looking to learn the basics or an experienced player aiming to refine your technique, I tailor my lessons to meet your individual needs.

Beyond Billiards

When I’m not at the pool table, I’m a software engineer working for the County. I’m also a sci-fi and fantasy enthusiast, drawing inspiration from authors like Piers Anthony, Isaac Asimov, and Douglas Adams.
